The beloved Mission Inn Museum is in danger of being evicted from its namesake, the historic Spanish-style landmark Mission Inn Hotel and Spa in the heart of downtown Riverside, over a fight about the lease.  Both the hotel and the museum attract tens of thousands of visitors every year for their rich history and the annual Festival of Lights celebration.  The Mission Inn Foundation runs the museum within the historic landmark hotel.  “We provide access to the artifacts, access to the tours and without that, the only way anyone would be able to see the hotel would be through meal, hotel stays and weddings, which means most of our citizens would never be able to experience it,” Jarod Hoogland, the executive director of the Mission Inn Foundation, told KTLA’s Shelby Nelson.  After a decades-long run, the museum could face eviction because of a disagreement over a new lease.  “It would sever the foundation and the museum from the hotel,” Hoogland explained. “The hot...

ANTIOCH, Calif. (KRON) -- A man shot multiple times by Antioch police officers earlier this month during a foot chase disputes police accounts that he pointed a gun at them. Newly surfaced video that may strengthen the defendant's claim.A bystander who filmed the cellphone video recently shared it with 30-year-old Daniel Mackin's family. Mackin's civil rights attorney Melissa Nold says the person passed it along to help with his defense after reading the Antioch Police Department's reasoning for the shooting on Oct. 1."I think the concern is always going to be the transparency and accountability. If the police are saying that they shot somebody almost 10 times because of something they did, they need to be able to show that that actually happened. It appears that they're, at least, at minimum, misleading the public as the full details of what happens here," said Nold. Who is pilot Joseph Emerson? Toll rises to 8 dead, 63 hurt from Louisiana interstate pileup blamed on dense fog, marsh fire smoke

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The toll from a series of crashes on a Louisiana interstate rose to eight dead and 63 injured Tuesday evening, a day after a “super fog” of marsh fire smoke and dense fog snared more than 160 vehicles in the fiery pileup, authorities said. Lance Scott was among the many drivers caught in the wreckage on Interstate 55 west of New Orleans. The 51-year-old had been driving his daughter to the airport Monday morning when the fog thickened like a “white-out on a ski slope.” He slammed on his brakes, narrowly avoiding the cars in front of him while hearing “the most horrendous clank of metal” behind him.“It was, ’Bang. Bang. Bang.’ It just went on… for probably 45 seconds,” Scott said. “As every second went by the clanking of the metal got a little bit fainter, which told me it was backing up — so I knew there was layers and layers of collisions.”Scott turned to his 24-year-old daughter, an intensive care unit nurse, and said to her, “There’s going to be a l...
