DENVER (KDVR) — Wednesday, applications for Colorado's e-bike rebate program will open. Interested applicants can apply on the state website starting at 9 a.m.State officials said the selection process is random, and about 2,000 Coloradans will receive a rebate in the first round. According to the website, this first round will be open from 9 a.m. Wednesday till 1 p.m. on Aug. 21.The next round of applications will open up in September and October. Moderate-income deductions start at $500, whereas low-income deductions are at least $1,100. Colorado is offering rebates on e-bikes. The Coral Springs Police Department arrested one person after they investigated a homicide that occurred in an apartment complex.According to officials, they started their investigation around 10 p.m. Monday after calls about a shooting near the 9200 block of Ramblewood Drive. The police department notified the public to avoid the area in a tweet just after their investigation began. Police announced around midnight that they have a suspect in custody. They also added that they will not release the identity of the victim or the suspect until their families have been contacted. Coral Springs PD has been contacted for more information. The heat is finally taking the backseat as rain chances rise between now and the weekend courtesy of tropical waves passing through Florida. This Wednesday, there are no Heat Advisories in effect given the mostly cloudy skies and afternoon storms that are expected.So for today, expect a few morning showers and storms, then a better chance with storms around in the afternoon while clouds increase. This will hold temperatures closer to normal into the low 90s.The tropical wave that will be just to our west will move farther away for Thursday and Friday but there will still be a good amount of moisture in place. Therefore, we are still expecting scattered showers and thunderstorms, primarily in the afternoon. Given the repeated rounds of heavy rain in spots, areas of flooding could develop. Highs at most locations will remain in the low 90s.Now by the weekend, another tropical wave will enter the picture. The City of Miami Special Victim’s Unit is seeking help in searching for a missing elderly man. Officials said Rudy Jesus Vazquez De La Cruz was last seen on Monday in the Little Havana area. The 76-year-old man stands at 5 feet, 6 inches, weighs about 140 pounds, and has blackish-gray hair and brown eyes. Authorities do not know what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance. OTTAWA — Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. says the annual pace of housing starts in July fell 10 per cent compared with June when they posted their strongest showing so far this year.The national housing agency says the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts in July came in at 254,966 units compared with 283,498 in June.The annual pace of urban starts was down 11 per cent in July at 234,857, while the rate of multi-unit urban starts fell 12 per cent to 193,446 and the pace of single-detached urban starts dropped four per cent to 41,411.CMHC says the annual pace of starts in July in Vancouver fell 23 per cent, while Toronto dropped 29 per cent.
